Is the end in sight?

The worst of the UK's recession is over, according to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) business group, but talk of a recovery is premature.
Its report, based on a survey of 5,600 companies, found there had been "welcome progress" in confidence levels between April and June, but the BCC still expects unemployment to reach 3.2 million by 2010.

There are, however, conflicting reports abound at the moment; official data showed that manufacturing output fell 0.5% in May. Analysts had forecast a rise of 0.2%.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the monthly fall was driven by a 2% decline in the paper, printing and publishing industries.  Industrial production, a wider measure which includes energy supply, mining and oil and gas as well as manufacturing, fell 0.6% against forecasts of a rise of 0.2%.

At HEADS Recruitment we are experiencing increased requirements from existing clients (temp workers numbers are up over 10% compared to last quarter) and clients are booking temps that haven’t had requirements since last year.  Overall confidence is definitely improving, but again it is too early to say whether these increased levels are the beginnings of an upturn or simply a seasonal blip.

Given that many companies are experiencing increased orders, but the feeling is still one of being cautious and even nervous of the stability of any improvement, using HEADS Temporary workers to cover as much of this increase as possible would seem to be the obvious solution.

This way you have the flexibility to increase and decrease headcount (and therefore cost) to match work levels and still have the option of cherry picking individuals for permanent roles should your increase become more sustained.
